Last night the Saatchi Gallery proudly welcomed the members of arguably the greatest rock band in history as they gathered together to celebrate the opening of Exhibitionism, the largest and most comprehensive collection of Rolling Stones memorabilia, painstakingly curated, and displayed in it’s full, unedited glory.
The opening night of Exhibitionism saw Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie gather among friends, family and colleagues to unveil the result of 3 years’ worth of meticulous planning. The appearance of former band member Bill Wyman cemented the feeling that this was no ordinary exhibition, but the physical amalgamation of the lives and careers of a band which has captivated so many for so long.
Showcasing over 500 artefacts from the band’s legendary fifty-year history, including costumes, film, backstage paraphernalia, personal artefacts and rare sound archives, Exhibitionism is guaranteed to offer an insight into the world of one of the most prolific and successful music careers to have ever existed, and will be on a scale never before attempted. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the band’s first year together, with a reenactment of the flat they shared together in Chelsea (dirty plates and mouldy milk bottles included) right through to their genre dominating success, spanning over three decades.
