In celebration of it’s 30th Anniversary, the Saatchi Gallery will be proudly showing it’s first ever exhibition featuring only female artists with Champagne Life, launching on 13th January 2016.
Gender disparity within the art world is no secret, and Champagne Life is a step towards smashing the glass ceiling and showcasing the work of 14 artists from across the globe. Renowned for championing little known artists and projecting them into the mainstream art world, The Saatchi Gallery hopes that Champagne Life will help to highlight work which might otherwise have gone unnoticed, as well as to challenge the discrepancy in credit and attention given to art created by women compared to that of men.
With works ranging from Julia Wachtel (whose creation of an inverted image of Kim and Kanye West is the title piece), Stephanie Quayle and Jelena Bulajic, the exhibition is, in the words of Nigel Hurst, CEO of the Saatchi Gallery, to “celebrate the strength and diversity of art made by women today.”
Champagne Life will be running at the Saatchi Gallery from 13th January to 6th March 2016. To find out more, visit The Saatchi Gallery.
